Step by step
Do this from the lobby, not from inside a match. The shop is reachable during a match, but the activation flow is designed around the lobby screen and the prompt is easier to hit there.
- Return to the lobby after the match that dropped the token. Reports describe a summary screen confirming that Pirate Shop access was unlocked. If you closed the game before that screen, the access is still on the account — it is not a one-time popup you can miss permanently.Screenshot slot · step-1-lobby
Lobby screen after the drop. Replace with a WebP screenshot. - Open the Item Shop tab. Not the Battle Pass, not the locker. The banner belongs to the shop screen itself.
Identify it by what it says, not by where it sits. It shows up as soon as the shop opens, on an account holding unclaimed access, and the button text reads PLUNDER THE SHOP in full. A corner is a layout decision that changes between patches; the wording is the feature. If you can read that label anywhere on the screen, you have found it.
Where it sits is genuinely contested: some players report it at the bottom-left corner of the Item Shop (ign.com — IGN guide, 2 Nov 2026), others at the bottom-right corner of the Item Shop (x.com — community summary thread, 2 Nov 2026). That looks like a platform or UI-version difference rather than a regional one, so check both edges before concluding the feature is missing.

- Read the confirmation dialog and accept. The reported confirm label is START YOUR PLUNDERING / ACTIVATE NOW. This is the irreversible click: once it lands, the countdown is running whether or not you like today's rotation.Screenshot slot · step-4-confirm

If activation fails
Nobody has published an official error-code list, so this table separates what players report from what simply follows from how the feature works. Where a row is inference rather than a report, it says so.
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| No banner anywhere in the shop | No unclaimed access on this account, or the window was already used | Confirm on the account that actually found the drop; check the squad that was in the match |
| Banner visible but cannot be selected | Controller cursor is outside the banner region | Move the cursor into the corner, then press the stick click |
| Item shows a price instead of FREE | That item is excluded, or it is a real-money pack | Check the category against the rewards table; excluded items never go free |
| Claim button is greyed out | Ownership or per-item limit already reached | Sidekicks are limited to one copy each; skip and move on |
| FREE label vanished mid-session | The window ended | Check the activation date against your window start |
| A friend has the banner and you do not | Access is per account, not per squad after the match | You had to be in the match when the token dropped |
The one case that is genuinely worth a support ticket is a drop you watched happen with the banner on screen, on an account that now shows nothing. That is rare, and screenshots help.
Confirm it worked before you walk away
- Free labels are visible on at least a few featured items.
- The banner has changed state — it usually stops offering activation once the window is live.
- Claim one cheap item as a test. If it lands in your locker with no V-Bucks spent, the window is definitely working.
- Write down the activation date. Your window is 14 days from that moment, and the season-level cutoff you are racing is a single unconfirmed timestamp: [Pending verification].
When to press it
Activation is manual precisely so you can choose the shop you want. Two strategies make sense. The first is to hold for a rotation containing collab items you missed. The second is to hold for a period where you know you can log in daily, because a window you cannot check every day wastes most of its value.
What does not make sense is holding until the deadline and then discovering you cannot log in that evening. You cannot activate from a website or a mobile browser shortcut — it has to happen in the game client.
The activation cutoff itself is unverified: [Pending verification]. The December dates quoted in press and community summaries are one instant seen in different timezones, not a range, and no Epic page states the hour. Aim comfortably early.
